Step 6: Patience. Your barrel will take around two and a half years to mature in our Bond store. During this time we encourage you to come and visit it whenever you want to inspect, show friends and sample!
Step 7: Decanting and bottling are something we can help you out with. Alternately we can ship you the finished whisky to you for you to bottle and label.
Step 8: Government excise will be payable prior to shipping/collection. Excise rates increase biannually, for a barrel ready to collect in 2017, expect to pay around $720 in excise.

People are fast discovering the exceptional quality of whisky coming from this small island. Whether it be the pristine water ways or fresh air Tasmania is fast becoming renowned for their award winning ‘Water of Life’. Here at Redlands we are offering people the opportunity to purchase their very own Tasmanian whisky barrel. We have crafted spirit in our heritage coach house, ready to fill your own twenty litre barrel. Please contact Harry for more information.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

We will carefully fill your twenty litre French Oak barrel with Redland’s hand crafted single malt spirit, made using only Tasmanian barley. Our barrels are selected and reconditioned by local Cooper local cooperage Tasmanian Cask Company. Barrel types include; sherry and port. After maturing for over two years in our old stables bond store, you can expect your barrel to produce anywhere between 30 – 40 500mL bottles (depending on how greedy the angels have been). You are invited to visit your barrel during its maturation to monitor its development.
