OLD KEMPTON DISTILLERY
A TRUE ARTISAN DISTILLERY
Old Kempton Distillery’s Cellar Door/Cafe is located in Dysart House, 26 Main Street Kempton, an 1840’s colonial inn. It is an easy 40 minute drive from Hobart and approximately 2 hours from Launceston. Open 7 days a week, 10am – 4pm.
OLD KEMPTON
CELLAR DOOR/CAFE
The cellar door/cafe boasts two charming restored dining rooms nicknamed The Juniper Room and The Barley Room and a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and enjoy some home cooked treats from our cafe menu. Our Cask Lounge is full of comfy chairs, our stunning cask & botanic wall and it is made for relaxing with a dram in hand.
The cellar door offers a wide variety of tastings of Old Kempton Distillery products – take your pick from Single Malt Whisky, Tasmanian liqueurs and our range of gins. Enjoy a personalised tasting flight or a nip of Single Malt. The grand coaching inn, built in 1842 by convict embezzler turned-innkeeper, William Ellis, was one of the finest inns on the road from Hobart to Launceston where weary travellers and their horses could rest overnight. The convict brick stables, once home to those tired 22 horses, is used for maturing and storing our whisky. Our newly built distillery building is home to our 600L, 900L and 2000L still’s – built to help streamline production while still keeping us the small artisan distillery you know and love.
Old Kempton Distillery does not host weddings. We highly recommend contacting Rathmore in Hollow Tree by phoning 0418 728 888 or Tea Tree Community Hall by emailing info@teetreecommunity.com
